Softball Game Preview: Hopkinton Hawks vs. Stevens Cardinals

Hopkinton is a perfect 3-0 against Stevens since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Hawks will head out to challenge the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Hopkinton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, it was close, but Hopkinton sidestepped Somersworth for a 3-1 win.

Monadnock hit Stevens with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies. The defeat continues a trend for the Cardinals in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

Hopkinton pushed their record up to 10-5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Stevens, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Hopkinton skirted past Stevens 3-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
