Fayette County had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 38.1 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They skirted past the Sandy Creek Patriots 65-62. That's more bragging rights for the Tigers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Fayette County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Megan Ohonde led the charge by dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 boards. Another player making a difference was Briann Freeman, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and six rebounds.

Fayette County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sandy Creek only racked up seven assists.

Despite the defeat, Sandy Creek saw an underclassman step up: freshman Morghan Reckley went 13 of 28 on her way to 37 points and four steals. Reckley's afternoon made it 17 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyva Holloway, who posted six points along with seven boards and three steals.

Fayette County's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Sandy Creek, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-4.

Fayette County has already played their next game, a 66-20 victory against Whitewater on the 28th. As for Sandy Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 53-52 win against Morrow on the 20th.
