Basketball Recap: Wildwood Drops Highest Score of Season Against New Roads

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wildwood). They blew past the New Roads Jaguars 70-46 on Saturday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-44 last Saturday.

Leading Wildwood to victory were Jonah Spitz and Matthew Ardell. Spitz dropped a triple-double on 17 points, ten rebounds, and 12 assists, while Ardell dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 14 boards, and ten steals. Those 17 points gave Spitz a new career-high. Matt D'Ovidio also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Wildwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Wildwood has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for New Roads, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wildwood has already played their next contest (against Geffen Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. New Roads has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy.
