Softball Recap: Ponte Vedra Gets the Win

Ponte Vedra lost to Fleming Island back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Sharks had just enough and edged out the Golden Eagles 9-8.

The team relied heavily on Carley Clarkson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Camryn Straub also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ponte Vedra's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Fleming Island, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.

Ponte Vedra and Fleming Island should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Sharks (ranked 107th) will meet Ridgeview (ranked 224th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fleming Island will square off against Orange Park at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (110 vs. 432).
