Basketball Recap: John Carmichael's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Piedmont Community Charter over Jackson Day

Piedmont Community Charter was the 74-34 winner over Jackson Day when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Piedmont Community Charter Patriots took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jackson Day Mariners.

Several Patriots players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John Carmichael, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. Carmichael's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Grant, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Piedmont Community Charter's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-6. As for Jackson Day, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piedmont Community Charter will face off against Cherryville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Piedmont Community Charter is facing Cherryville at the right time seeing as Cherryville is stuck on a 15-game losing streak. As for Jackson Day, they will take on Carolina International at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carolina International will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Jackson Day surely won't give up without a fight.
