Baseball Game Preview: Pickerington North Panthers vs. Central Crossing Comets

The Pickerington North Panthers will take on the Central Crossing Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Crossing took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Pickerington North, who comes in off a win.

Last Wednesday, Pickerington North beat Westerville Central 8-3.

Keegan Reuscher tossed a big game, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jackson Turnbull, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Myles Crockett, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Central Crossing was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 6-2 to Lincoln.

Pickerington North's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Central Crossing, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pickerington North has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central Crossing struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Pickerington North couldn't quite finish off Central Crossing when the teams last played back in May of 2022 and fell 6-4. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
