Softball Recap: Middletown Has No Trouble Against Palmyra

While Middletown put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Palmyra. The Blue Raiders were the clear victors by a 21-0 margin over the Cougars. The contest marked the Blue Raiders' most dominant victory of the season.

Kenadee Hileman was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Hileman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Journee Stover, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Stover is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Hayden Herneisey was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Middletown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Middletown pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Palmyra, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Middletown will welcome Kennard-Dale at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Blue Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Palmyra, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bishop McDevitt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
