Softball Recap: Coral Springs Charter Beats Western for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Coral Springs Charter had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Western Wildcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 back in March.

Courtney Wahlbrink made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other pitching news, Sophia Bertorelli looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Heather Robertson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gio Gurgel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Coral Springs Charter hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in nine consecutive games.

Coral Springs Charter's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Western, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-5-1.

As of now, neither Coral Springs Charter nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
