Basketball Recap: Perry Meridian Takes a Loss

Perry Meridian played a tough contest on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 73-32 loss at the hands of the Plainfield Quakers. The defeat continues a trend for the Falcons in their meetings with the Quakers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Perry Meridian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aubrey Hall, who posted ten points. Addy Short was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Plainfield was led to victory by Berkeley Williams and Hannah Menser. Williams went 9-for-12 en route to 19 points and three steals, while Menser shot 46% from the field on her way to 15 points and seven steals. That's the most steals Menser has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Pugh, who earned nine points.

Perry Meridian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Plainfield, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Perry Meridian will welcome Southport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons will be up against the Cardinals' rather soft defense (which has allowed 59.5 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Plainfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-35 loss against Homestead on the 22nd.
