Football Game Preview: Gatewood Gators vs. Briarwood Academy Buccaneers

The Gatewood Gators will challenge the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Gatewood is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Gatewood gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They took down Thomas Jefferson Academy 34-18.

Meanwhile, Briarwood Academy never let their opponents score on Friday. They blew past Augusta Prep 24-0. The Buccaneers haven't had any issues with the Cavaliers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Gatewood better keep an eye on Cutler Fleming. He was instrumental in Briarwood Academy's win, throwing for 158 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 83 yards.

Briarwood Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Banks DeMore. Briarwood Academy got some further help from Caleb Furr: he picked up a sack and made 16 total tackles (4.5 for loss).

Gatewood's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Briarwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
