Basketball Recap: Giltner Comes Up Short

Giltner lost against High Plains back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Giltner Hornets lost 55-29 to the High Plains Storm. The Hornets were down 41-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

High Plains' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emma Brown, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. High Plains is 2-1 when Brown posts eight or more rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. Gahvrielle Lesiak was another key player, going 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points along with six steals and five boards.

Giltner is on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. As for High Plains, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Giltner and Heartland will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for High Plains, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Shelby-Rising City at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. High Plains has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
