Basketball Recap: Crosspointe Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Phil Fitzsimmons and Coltenn Wagner

Crosspointe Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Suburban Christian Crusaders. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 62-47 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Coltenn Wagner and Phil Fitzsimmons certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Wagner went 8 for 17 on his way to 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Fitzsimmons went 8 of 11 en route to 19 points and seven boards. With that strong performance, Wagner is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of William Yeiter, who posted 13 points.

Suburban Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Carter, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. Carter is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chad Glover, who had 14 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Crosspointe Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Suburban Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Crosspointe Christian Academy Panthers challenge the Colonial Christian Cougars at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Crosspointe Christian Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.3 points per game this season. As for Suburban Christian, they will challenge Community Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
