Basketball Game Preview: Clearview Clippers vs. Wellington Dukes

Clearview is 2-8 against Wellington since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Clearview Clippers will square off against the Wellington Dukes at 5:30 p.m.

Clearview is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Monday. They came up short against Columbia, falling 80-55. While losing is never fun, the Clippers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 723rd, while the Raiders are ranked 281st).

Meanwhile, Wellington entered their tilt with Brookside on Saturday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Cardinals, sneaking past 33-31. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Dukes have posted since January 24, 2024.

Clearview better keep an eye on Brooke Lehmkuhl. She was instrumental in Wellington's win, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 16 boards. Lehmkuhl has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Grace Knapp also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Clearview's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.

Clearview was dealt a bruising 53-23 defeat at the hands of Wellington when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lehmkuhl, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 boards.
