Softball Recap: Princeton Tigers vs. Gibson Southern Titans

Princeton extended their losing streak to 11 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-14 in the process. They came up short against the Gibson Southern Titans, falling 8-0. The Tigers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Titans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Brooklyn Turpin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game.

As for Gibson Southern, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Gibson Southern's side, Miley Sperling was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Sperling was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Laney Scherer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
