Basketball Recap: Wheatland Piles Up the Points Against Glenrock

Wheatland won the last time they faced Glenrock and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wheatland Bulldogs claimed a resounding 66-39 victory over the Glenrock Herders. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 22 points or more this season.

Wheatland was led to victory by Lily Anderson and Ella Keil. Anderson went 12-for-22 to rack up 27 points and six steals, while Keil went 6-for-13 en route to 13 points in addition to five assists and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Anderson has scored at least a third of Wheatland's points. Karly Jones was another key player, putting up four points and eight boards.

Wheatland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Wheatland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points over those games. As for Glenrock, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wheatland will host Pine Bluffs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pine Bluffs will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Wheatland surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glenrock, they will face off against Burns at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
