Preview: Barr-Reeve Vikings vs. South Knox Spartans
Barr-Reeve has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the South Knox Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Barr-Reeve posted their biggest win since December 9, 2023 on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Shoals with a sharp 40-19 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Barr-Reeve has posted against Shoals since January 19, 2021.
Hannah Bledsoe continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Emma Knepp was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, South Knox came tearing into Saturday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 75-37 victory over Vincennes Lincoln. Given South Knox's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Vincennes Lincoln is ranked 175th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Barr-Reeve has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season. As for South Knox, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Barr-Reeve came up short against South Knox in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 51-39. Can Barr-Reeve avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
