Basketball Recap: Pendleton Heights Comes Up Short

Pendleton Heights lost against Muncie Central back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pendleton Heights Arabians took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Muncie Central Bearcats.

When it comes to explaining why Pendleton Heights lost, don't look at Cooper Sims. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-16 to rack up 19 points. That was a full 38.8% of Pendleton Heights' points, marking the third time in a row Sims has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Joseph Estes, who had eight points.

Muncie Central found their leader in freshman Jaxson Johnson, who went 8-for-15 on his way to 24 points. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for Johnson. Lj Strange was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Pendleton Heights' loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Muncie Central, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pendleton Heights will face off against Centerville at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Centerville has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 211 points over their last three games. As for Muncie Central, they will square off against New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
