Softball Recap: Ventura Snags 11th Win in Last 14 Games

There's no place like home for Ventura, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the San Marcos Royals on Friday as they made off with a 10-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Jessie Sebek made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Brooklynn Bishop was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Ventura hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 17 consecutive matchups.

Ventura is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.1 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

Ventura will head out on the road to challenge Rio Mesa at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for San Marcos, they will welcome Santa Barbara at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
