Burbank came tearing into  Friday's  matchup with five straight wins  (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Seguin Matadors by a score of  8-5. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Matadors  back in March, they had to take a  8-2  defeat.
 Evelyn Lopez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   tossing seven innings while giving up  four earned runs off   nine  hits. Lopez was also big at the plate,  going 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI. That  home run was  her first of the season.
 In other batting news,  Gianina Valdez was a standout: she scored two  runs while going 3-for-5.  Kyrsten Garza was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-3.
Burbank's win was  their fifth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 17-3. Those  road  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Seguin, their loss  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 16-2.
 We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Burbank is set to  take on  their familiar foe Lanier  at 7:15  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Seguin will  challenge  rival Highlands  at 7:15  p.m.  on Tuesday.
