Athens Academy has gone 8-2 against Commerce recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Athens Academy Spartans will take on the Commerce Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Athens Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Oglethorpe County just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to the Patriots 49-43.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Commerce challenged Rabun County on Saturday. Commerce took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Rabun County. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while the Wildcats are ranked 80th).

Commerce has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season. As for Athens Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Athens Academy couldn't quite finish off Commerce when the teams last played back in December of 2021 and fell 60-57. Can Athens Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
