Baseball Game Preview: Albuquerque Bulldogs vs. Manzano Monarchs

The Albuquerque Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Manzano Monarchs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Albuquerque is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Albuquerque is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of St. Pius X by a score of 12-11 on Thursday.

Albuquerque saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alonzo Granados, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave Granados a new career-high. Gabriel Pohl was another, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Granados wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Albuquerque lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, everything went Manzano's way against Highland on Wednesday as Manzano made off with a 12-3 victory. The Monarchs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Aljaris Pineda, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Lord, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

Manzano now has a winning record of 4-3-1. As for Albuquerque, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Albuquerque came up short against Manzano when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 13-9. Can Albuquerque avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
