Soccer Game Preview: Dimond vs. South Anchorage

The Dimond Lynx will venture away from home to face off against the South Anchorage Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Dimond is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: West Anchorage, who was ranked second at the time (Dimond was ranked fourth). The Lynx fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Dimond let down their fans at home.

Meanwhile, South Anchorage earned a 3-1 victory over Bettye Davis East Anchorage on Friday.

Owen Brown and Chase Gleaton scored all three of the Wolverines' goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

South Anchorage now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Dimond, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-3-1.

Dimond took their win against South Anchorage when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 6-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lynx since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
