Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Defeat Ends Dansville's Winning Streak

Dansville dropped their record down to 8-5 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Wayland-Cohocton Eagles by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 two weeks ago.

Logan Kendall spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Jake Kreiley was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Dansville is 5-1 when Kreiley posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Dezarn, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI.

As for Wayland-Cohocton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 1, 2024.

On Wayland-Cohocton's side, Owen Wolfanger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Wolfanger has posted since back in April.

Looking ahead, Dansville will face off against Hornell at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Wayland-Cohocton, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-4 win against Haverling on the 15th.
