Softball Recap: Five Straight Home Victories for Lawrence County

There's no place like home for Lawrence County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against the Ardmore Tigers by a score of 8-4 on Monday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red Devils also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Bella Cross spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Lawrence County let Alivia Terry and AB McKay run wild. Terry scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while McKay scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Terry has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alivia Templeton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .448. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lawrence County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Ardmore, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lawrence County will take on Austin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence County's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Austin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Ardmore, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Ardmore Tigers duke it out with Brooks Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Brooks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
