Basketball Game Preview: Troy Trojans vs. Hiawatha Red Hawks

The Troy Trojans will square off against the Hiawatha Red Hawks at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Troy is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Lafayette just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Thursday. The game between them and the Fighting Irish didn't end well, with Troy falling 54-38. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Hiawatha waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 59-47.

Hiawatha pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for Troy, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-1.

Troy was able to grind out a solid victory over Hiawatha in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 47-34. Will Troy repeat their success, or does Hiawatha have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
