Basketball Game Preview: Meade Mustangs vs. South River Seahawks

Meade hasn't had much luck against South River recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Meade Mustangs will take on the South River Seahawks at 6:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Meade came up short against Annapolis and fell 55-42. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while the Panthers are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, South River entered their tilt with Broadneck on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They breezed by the Bruins to the tune of 68-33. The Seahawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

South River's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games. As for Meade, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Meade opened the new year with a less-than-successful 60-53 loss to South River. Can Meade avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
