Preview: Griffith Panthers vs. River Forest Ingots
Griffith has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the River Forest Ingots at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Griffith focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Griffith, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-34 loss to Crown Point. Griffith has not had much luck with Crown Point recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Griffith saw an underclassman step up: Jalen Wilson scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Savon Miles, who scored four points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, River Forest came up short against Calumet New Tech last Saturday and fell 56-48.
Griffith's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for River Forest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Everything came up roses for Griffith against River Forest in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 67-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Griffith since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
