Basketball Recap: Alijah Turner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Castle over Franklin County

On Saturday, the New Castle Trojans came up short against the Franklin County Wildcats and fell 54-45.

Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alijah Turner, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 16 points. What's more, Turner also posted two steals, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Landon Thompson, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.

Landon Johnson had a dynamite game for Franklin County, going 9-for-16 en route to 28 points. Johnson has become a key player for Franklin County: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least 15 points, but 5-11 otherwise. Isaiah Kemp was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

New Castle's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Franklin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-12.

New Castle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-46 loss against Delta on the 14th. As for Franklin County, they have also already played their next game, a 72-51 defeat against Centerville on the 14th.
