Basketball Recap: Lehigh Takes a Loss

After flying high against East Lee County last Friday, Lehigh came back down to earth. The Lehigh Lightning were beaten by the Riverview Sarasota Rams 67-28 on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Lightning can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Rams are ranked 56th).

Ava Noto had a dynamite game for Riverview Sarasota, going 7 of 9 en route to 17 points and five steals. That's the most points Noto has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Gabriela Morales, who posted six points and five steals.

With the defeat, Lehigh broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-4. As for Riverview Sarasota, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Lehigh won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Gateway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Riverview Sarasota and Hilliard will round out the year against one another at at 12:45 p.m. on December 27th. Riverview Sarasota is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
