Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. Jackson Vikings

The Waverly Warriors are taking a road trip to challenge the Jackson Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Waverly is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

Last Saturday, Waverly earned an 81-74 victory over Sexton. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Big Reds are ranked 60th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Jackson got the win against Ypsilanti on Friday by a conclusive 50-24. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Waverly pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.7 points per game. As for Jackson, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Everything went Waverly's way against Jackson in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Waverly made off with a 68-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waverly since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
