Darien is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Trumbull is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Blue Wave will host the Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Monday, Darien got the win against Staples by a conclusive 9-3.
Vivian Knott made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Camden Comfort, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Siena Gird was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Darien kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.2.
Meanwhile, while Trumbull put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Bridgeport Central. The Eagles put the hurt on the Hilltoppers with a sharp 15-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Eagles needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Darien's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Trumbull, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Darien skirted past Trumbull 1-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. Will the Blue Wave repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
