Basketball Recap: Lake City Takes a Loss

Lake City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Chiawana Riverhawks, falling 61-37. The Timberwolves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Riverhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2022.

It was another big night for Malia Ruud, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds for Chiawana. The team also got some help courtesy of Baylee Maldonado, who posted six points and five assists.

Lake City now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Chiawana, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Lake City will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Coeur d'Alene at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Chiawana, they and Mead will face off at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Chiawana is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 68.9 points per game this season.
