Basketball Recap: Carrboro Drops Highest Score of Season Against Vance County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carrboro). They enjoyed a cozy 83-64 victory over the Vance County Vipers on Friday. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Jaguars with their most commanding win of the season.

Bakari Watkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 12 rebounds. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sam Kanjorski, who went 6 of 9 en route to 16 points and seven rebounds.

Carrboro smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in five consecutive contests.

Vance County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Harold Timberlake, IV, who posted 15 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Roberts, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Carrboro's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Vance County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Carrboro will challenge South Granville at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Granville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.8 points per game this season. As for Vance County, they will face off against Granville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vance County is facing Granville Central at the right time seeing as Granville Central is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
