Baseball Recap: Cumberland Comes Up Short

Cumberland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took an 8-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gloucester County Tech. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Colts of the 8-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Cumberland saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Sheppard, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Cumberland's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Gloucester County Tech, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cumberland will square off against Highland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tartans' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Colts' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Gloucester County Tech, they will venture away from home to challenge Washington Township at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last three games the Minutemen have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
