Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Fort Payne walked away with it. They came out on top against the Oxford Yellow Jackets by a score of 65-54 on Friday. This was payback for the Wildcats, who suffered a 55-40 loss the last time these two teams met.

Oxford's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brionna Wilson, who posted 18 points. That's the most points Wilson has posted since back in December of 2024. T Boyd was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Fort Payne has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 25-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points over those games. As for Oxford, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Looking ahead, Fort Payne will take on Homewood on February 17th. One thing working in Homewood's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. Oxford does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
