Football Game Preview: Safford Bulldogs vs. Florence Gophers + Official Tickets

The Safford Bulldogs will challenge the Florence Gophers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Safford has given up an average of 27.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Safford's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Pusch Ridge Christian Academy on Friday. They were beaten by the Lions 48-0. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Florence). They blew past Sabino 44-24 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Gophers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Florence didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Wyatt Stenson led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Darrius Samuels also made nine total tackles, which is notable because Florence is 3-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-3 otherwise. Another thorn in Sabino's side was Zayden Cundiff, who made 21 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

The win got Florence back to even at 4-4. As for Safford, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Safford suffered a grim 34-13 defeat to Florence when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Thankfully for the Bulldogs, Logan Stenson (who rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 115 yards and a pair of TDs) won't be suiting up this time.
