Baseball Recap: Fairview Has No Trouble Against Watonga

While Fairview put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Watonga. The Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-0 win. The Yellowjackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.

Bret Pembrook looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Fairview got a massive performance out of Haddon Miller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Miller has become a key player for the Yellowjackets: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 8-13 otherwise. Trace Bonham was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

The victory got Fairview back to even at 14-14. As for Watonga, they dropped their record down to 12-15 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home.

Looking ahead, Fairview will welcome Tonkawa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The Buccaneers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Watonga, they will challenge Hooker at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
