Basketball Recap: Douglas Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Douglas had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They secured a 50-45 W over the Galena Grizzlies. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Grizzlies, too.

Douglas was led to victory by Ashlyn Greenfield and Hailee Koontz. Greenfield posted 21 points and six rebounds, while Koontz dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. Greenfield's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Bradford, who had four points and nine rebounds.

Despite the loss, Galena still got an impressive performance from Julia Imse, who almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Galena's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Mia Turner, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Douglas' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Galena, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-8.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Douglas Tigers face off against the Spanish Springs Cougars at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Galena, they will welcome Carson at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Galena is facing Carson at the right time seeing as Carson is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
