Baseball Recap: Foley Comes Up Short

Foley easily dispatched St. Michael Catholic on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Foley Lions fell just short of the Dalton Catamounts by a score of 8-6 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 1, 2024.

Foley got a good showing from Connor Laughery, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Laughery also posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Foley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Heiden, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Lukus Bryant was another, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Foley fell to 2-1.

While they had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
