Recap: Norton Bluejays vs. Hoxie Indians
After a string of seven wins, the Norton Bluejays's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 57-47 to Hoxie. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Norton in their matchups with Hoxie: they've now lost five in a row.
Norton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Clydesdale, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Clydesdale has scored all season. Jenessa Ruder was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with three blocks.
Norton's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Hoxie, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norton will take on Ellis at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hoxie, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Russell at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Russell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 256th, while Hoxie is ranked fourth).
