Softball Recap: Crystal Lake South Gators vs. Dundee-Crown Chargers

Crystal Lake South had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-12 to make it nine. They came up short against the Dundee-Crown Chargers, falling 15-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on April 7th.

Riley Barda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Dundee-Crown, they moved to 7-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

On Dundee-Crown's side, Reese Westland spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Faith Dierwechter was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Gale, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
