Basketball Recap: Oliver Springs Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Oliver Springs challenged Sunbright on Friday. The Oliver Springs Bobcats lost 59-37 to the Sunbright Tigers. The Bobcats have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Mckenna Smith continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sunbright, going 9 of 17 en route to 18 points in addition to six assists and four steals. The matchup was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Cassidy Young was another key player, going 5 for 10 on her way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Oliver Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Sunbright, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Oliver Springs will challenge Jellico at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oliver Springs is facing Jellico at the right time seeing as Jellico is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for Sunbright, they will take on Coalfield at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
