Basketball Recap: East Chapel Hill Comes Up Short

East Chapel Hill played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Jordan Falcons 55-22. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 466th, while the Falcons are ranked 135th).

East Chapel Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Alana Burroughs and Alison Zaranek. Burroughs posted eight points and five steals, while Zaranek put up six points. Burroughs is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last eight games she's played.

Jordan found their leader in sophomore Olivia Yancey, who went 11 for 17 on her way to 25 points. Valerie-Ange Batta was another key player, putting up eight points.

East Chapel Hill has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. As for Jordan, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-4.

East Chapel Hill has already played their next game (against Hillside), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jordan will face off against Riverside-Durham at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Jordan is facing Riverside-Durham at the right time seeing as Riverside-Durham is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
