Calexico entered their tilt with Palo Verde Valley on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Yellow Jackets. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by just one run.

Antonio Gonzalez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Calexico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ander Garcia, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Derek Carrillo also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Calexico pushed their record up to 14-3-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Palo Verde Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Calexico beat the Yellow Jackets by a score of 6-0 on Friday.
