Baseball Recap: Melbourne Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Melbourne and Lake Minneola squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Melbourne had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 10-9. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Bulldogs, who until this match were averaging 4.07 runs allowed.

Gabriel Gonzalez and Ty Aldeghi stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Aldeghi went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Burrows, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Melbourne's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-9. As for Lake Minneola, they have been performing well recently as they've won 13 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

While Melbourne had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
