Football Game Preview: Nettleton Tigers vs. Winona Tigers

Nettleton will square off against Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Nettleton has struggled recently with 12 defeats in a row, while Winona will arrive with three straight victories.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Friday. Nettleton took a blow against Noxubee County, falling 46-13. While losing is never fun, Nettleton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 236th, while Noxubee County is ranked 36th).

Meanwhile, Winona's game on Friday was all tied up 21-21 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They had just enough and edged out Choctaw County 24-21.

Nettleton better keep an eye on Landon Crawford. He was instrumental in Winona's win, rushing for 74 yards and one TD.

Winona was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in 15 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Winona now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Nettleton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Nettleton was dealt a bruising 43-7 defeat at the hands of Winona when the teams last played back in November of 2022. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Nettleton was down 29-7.
