Soccer Game Preview: Sheffield vs. Memphis Central

The Sheffield Mighty Knights are taking a road trip to take on the Memphis Central Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sheffield has four straight victories, Memphis Central has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Sheffield proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their defense stepped up to hand Harpeth a 1-0 shutout. Sheffield's winning goal came courtesy of Hector Garcia.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Memphis Central and Kingsbury, and Kingsbury kept the tradition alive. The Warriors came up short against the Mighty Falcons on Wednesday, falling 5-0. That's two games in a row now that Memphis Central have lost by exactly five goals.

Memphis Central's loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1. As for Sheffield, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Sheffield couldn't quite get it done against Memphis Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 4-2. Can the Mighty Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
