Basketball Recap: Tahoma Comes Up Short

Tahoma fought the good fight in their overtime match against Mt. Rainier on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 61-60 to the Mt. Rainier Rams. The Bears were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.

Mt. Rainier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mason Emil, who went 10 for 18 on his way to 20 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Emil a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Simpson, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven assists and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Tahoma and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Mt. Rainier, their record is now 5-1.

Tahoma will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Kennedy Catholic at 7:00 p.m. As for Mt. Rainier, they will head out to face off against Auburn Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Rainier is facing Auburn Riverside at the right time seeing as Auburn Riverside is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
