Baseball Recap: Arjun Patel Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Rolling Meadows

Conant and Rolling Meadows pushed the score to 12-10 the last time they played Rolling Meadows, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 3-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won five in a row.

Not much got past Alex Martinez, who gave up just six hits and racked up six Ks to keep Rolling Meadows off the board. Martinez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Conant is 3-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 9-13-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Conant saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Arjun Patel, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Conant hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Conant's victory bumped their record up to 12-14-1. As for Rolling Meadows, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 19-9 record.

Coming up, Conant will head out to square off against Hampshire at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rolling Meadows, they will be playing at home against Prospect at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
