Basketball Recap: Capital Comes Up Short

Capital was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were beaten by the Woodrow Wilson Flying Eagles 77-45. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flying Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 77-55 back in December of 2024.

Woodrow Wilson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donya Burton led the charge by going 6 of 10 to rack up 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Burton has become a key player for Woodrow Wilson: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Karsyn Gunter, who went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and eight boards.

Capital's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Woodrow Wilson, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Coming up, Capital will face off against Poca at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Woodrow Wilson, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mount View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodrow Wilson is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.8 points per game this season.
